On behalf of the Laurel Park Elementary School Garden Committee, we would like to thank you for your interest in helping with the creation of the first ever sustainable garden at our local Apex, NC school. The Garden Committee is a sub-committee of the Laurel Park Elementary School’s PTA. We are a very devoted and dedicated group of parent volunteers committed to enriching the education and environment for learning of our local youth. We believe that in providing a garden where the students will be partially responsible for the choice of plants, and care of the garden, we will be instilling healthy habits and providing an invaluable outdoor classroom setting available to any teacher at LPES.
We will be building a 32’ x 24’ enclosed area with six raised garden beds and two handicapped accessible raised garden tables. Along with the assistance from our great group of parent and teacher volunteers, each grade, K-5 will be responsible for one of these raised beds.
In order for us to break ground on this exciting project, we need your help. Our committee is reaching out to our community and asking for help in donating funds, materials and/or services in order to help educate our children in the importance of the farm-to-table food connection. In addition we will be promoting learning about the ecological impact of how what we grow and what we plant effects our environment. As a thank you for your help, all donor names will be placed prominently on all promotional material as well as within the garden itself on a Donor Wall.
